Meeting in Vestre Toten Lappelag last Thursday

I tried to catch the suggestive atmosphere in our Advent-meeting by not using the camera's flashlight. Ruth served a lovely crabsticks and shrimps in aspic and homemade bread.

Astrid bought a kit for a tablerunner from Kari Renolen when Gjøvik Quiltelag visited her shop last month.

I've got mail........

I ordered these books from Amazon.com a little while ago and I been waiting in suspense until some days ago. They are smashing and ground-breaking. I'm looking forward to dive into them :-)

In memory of Regine Stokke

For some time I have followed Regine Stokkes blog "Face your fear" and yesterday died this wonderful 18 years old girl from cancer (MDS-AML). She has touched everyone who read her blogging about her days and months with this disease. I didn't know her, but I felt I did. Regine had a very frank manner and she was willing to be open and honest about her situation. Sail on Silver Girl.....You will always SHINE in our hearts.

Blog anniversary in two weeks time; -great giveaway ahead

It occurred to me this morning that my blog anniversary is in two weeks time. December 10th 2008 was my very first post to Elins kreative side and I can't believe it has one been one year.

Those of you that are regular readers or friends know that I do tend to "over do" things. So I have decided since my blog-birthday is just around the corner, I will have a big extravaganza anniversary party for the next two weeks and I offer 3 different prizes!

December 10th is also the date for the Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony. The Nobel Peace Prize has been called "the world's most prestigious prize". Alfred Nobel died on the December 10th in 1895, and it has been an established tradition ever since 1901 for the Peace Prize to be presented on that date at a solemn award ceremony. The Peace Prize award ceremony takes place in the Oslo City Hall, in the presence of representatives of the Royal Family, the Government, the Storting, and about 1000 other guests. Banquets in honour of the Laureates are held the same evening at the Grand Hotel, outside which there is a torchlight procession in honour of the Laureate. Last year my youngest daughter and I went to Oslo to participate in this torchlight procession, see blogpost here!

Beautiful BOM from FatCat Patterns

Sindy makes wonderful pattern for all of us who simply loves making quilts.

And they are free to use :-)

This BOM is called Chocolate Stars and it is updated on the first of each month.

It will run from August 1, 2009  until October 1, 2010.

On the first, new blocks are added. Blocks for this series will remain available for the duration.

Heather Finnell in Burning The Midnight Oil Quilts will put up a free block of the month quilt.  You will be able to download the new block every month for free. The free block is available from the 15th of the month to the 14th of the next month when the new one will go up. If you miss any of the months you can purchase the blocks you missed for a nominal price. Fabric Requirements will be up November 15th 2009. Isn't this quilt lovely?
