Molly's Sketchbook: Patchwork Easter Eggs.
These sweet eggs are beautiful Easter decorations, so springly and fresh. Click on the headline and visit the Purl Bee website...... :-)

I'm planning to offer you a new Easter tablerunner freebie

I'm going away for two days; my political me needs a little input before we are going to start our election campaign.
But during next week I will post the very first of my Mystery-pattern for Easter. It will be a little of stitchery and patchwork and very easy to make. So keep up with my blog.
Have a nice weekend everyone. Take care :-)

I have been on local news broadcast today....

To date, most inherited cases of breast cancer have been associated with two genes: BRCA1, which stands for BReast CAncer gene one, and BRCA2, or BReast CAncer gene two. The function of these genes is to keep breast cells growing normally and to prevent any cancer cell growth. But when these genes contain abnormalities, or mutations, they are associated with an increased breast cancer risk. Abnormal BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes may account for up to 10% of all breast cancers.Women diagnosed with breast cancer who have an abnormal BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene often have a family history of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or both. But it's also important to remember that most women with breast cancer have no family history of the disease. Identifying BRCA1 and BRCA2 has led to new techniques for lowering, detecting, and treating breast cancer and lowering the risk for the disease. For women who wish to be tested, they can now establish whether the two genes are normal or not.But there's still a lot more to learn about these genes. And other genes probably also play a role in the development of breast cancer, for women both with and without a family history of the disease.
The medical expert for Breast Cancer and Genetics Lovice Mæhle from Radiumhospitalet in Oslo. I visited her for a genetic risk assessment last summer. I and my family members needed information about breast cancer and breast cancer risk. I prepared a family tree which listed members of each generation of my biological family, with all available health and disease information. Ideally, this family tree should go back at least three generations and should include the type of cancer each relative has had, as well as the person's age at diagnosis.
I'm a pink lady, so I had to wear something pink today.
I got interviewed about why I decided to get a genetic risk assessment last summer. The Norwegian Public Health Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs is planning statutory rules for genetic risk assessments and they are not sure about who they will offer this assessment to......

Quilting-girls day out 21th of July 2008

Nearly every summer Ruth and I use to travel to a quiltshop in our area. Last summer we went to Elverum and the quiltshop "Lille Stasjon". Mette and Lise joined us on this trip. Beautiful quilts in the windows promised well for our shopping :-)
Simple but elegant.
Tablerunner with stars and hearts.
Sweet-as-sugar-colors.
A sweet pouch with stitchery.
Guess who bought this jelly-roll?
Mette with the little quilt made of the jelly roll.
Ruth and Lise in the backroom. We were served coffee and tea and could relax between deciding what we were going to buy....
A cocky rooster on a tablerunner.
Happy Lise :-)
A bag high up on a shelf.
Another beautiful bag.
Delicious!

Right outside the quiltshop we found a café and we enjoyed our lunch there.
Lise, pretty in green :-)
Pillows from the quiltshop Fabrikkutsalget in Brumunddal.
Another view and a runner in the same fabrics.
Beautiful stitchery.
Blue can also be a spring-color.

March-block from Ellies Quiltplace

Ellies Calender Free BOM block for March is posted. Go to Ellies Quiltplace and download it. I cannot decide whether I'm going to do it in stitchery or applique. It is a luxury problem after all :-)
Take care!

While I tidy up my my house, you can enjoy this quilting poem

Memories
by Patricia Everson
Sit down and I'll tell you a story
Wrap yourself up in my quilt.
Here's a cup of my coffee
The wood stove is filled to the hilt.
Quilting is more than a hobby.
To me it is a record of life,
Recording for me all the good times,
Remembering for me all the strife.
This patch was made from a bunting.
The baby had now moved away.
And this one came from my sister,
From a dress that was yellow and grey.
Below this one from my brother
Is one from my aunt who just died.
If you look close you can cipher
Her signature on the left side.
And here over next to the corner
Is a piece from my mother's old skirt.
And this one right in the middle
Was made from my father's red shirt.
This one came out a bit crooked.
The material was faded and worn.
No wonder it looks so dejected,
It was woven before I was born.
Beneath this one at the bottom
Is one that is worth more than gold.
It came from my old winter jacket,
It kept me safe from the cold.
This blue one I found in the cellar
When we moved to this house long ago.
Who knows what story it covets,
This old, faded, worn calico.
Above the green one in the center
Is my most favorite one of all.
It looks like the leaves by the river
Just after they drop in the fall.
And let's not forget this pink gingham,
I know that it's seen better days,
But I like the way that it mingles
With the yellows and purples and greys.
Before you finish your coffee
And you have to be on your way,
Take a look at this one near the bottom,
It came from my Great Uncle Ray.
He traveled the world in a schooner,
He brought back such wonderful things.
The material is of the richest,
Fit only for princes and kings.
Some store their treasures in bank vaults,
Some keep them hidden away,
But I keep mine here on my quilt top
Where I can enjoy them each day.

Meeting in Vestre Toten Lappelag last Thursday.

Lene is planning to attend an exhibition in France this fall. Various fabrics of silk and Angelina is used in this fantastic quilt.
Close-up. Notice the quiltinglines!
At the back of the quilt you can really see the quiltinglines.
Lene with her quilt.
Flower close-up.
Wenke with one of her two new bags.
The other one.
Lene had to do some handsewing. She doesn't like to sew this.....
Ruth is stitching "Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes". The plain truth!
I have recived my two first BOM from Kathrines Quiltestue. During our meeting I managed to draw the stitchery-pattern for one of them.
